Spring Liver Detox Smoothie

Why we cleanse the Liver in the Springtime:

 Traditional Chinese Medicine, Springtime is linked with the liver organ, which is considered to have green energy. It is the time of the year to release the stagnant energy from winter by jumpstarting your digestive tract, working out, getting massages, and stimulating your lymphatic system. The green energy of the liver is activated by eating more green foods and bcleansing the liver we can also help avoid seasonal allergies and boost our immune system. It is the time of year we come out of hibernation and is considered the best time of year for a wellness detox. 

Anima Mundi’s Liver Vitality Greens powder contains ten of the most powerful superfoods on the planet, including some super green foods that aid in liver detox. With ingredients such as Chlorella (a heavy metal detoxing algae), Spirulina (an algae with powerful antioxidants and high in vitamins), and Turmeric (an anti-inflammatory root), the powder is the easiest way to fill your body with great nutrients to aid in a spring cleanse to shake off winter. The powder is available for purchase at the studio. You can drink it with water first thing in the morning but we also love to add it to our morning green smoothie.   • A few bunches of cavolo nero (black kale)
  • A small bunch of parsley
  • 1/2 an avocado
  • 1/2 a banana
  • 1 apple
  • 1 teaspoon of Anima Mundi Liver Vitality Greens powder 
  • 1-2 cups of your choice milk, we use almond!
You can forego the banana if you want to cut down on sugar. The avocado will help your smoothie be creamy even without the banana!
Rinse your produce well and chop up your ingredients
Add all to a blender and blend until smooth.
Add water to get your desired consistency.
Serve and enjoy!

Cavolo Nero/Black Kale: Contains four times the amount of Vitamin C that is found in spinach, kale is a great way to boost the immune system. It is also high in selenium, a mineral which is known to increase skin glow by improving blood flow and your thyroid metabolism.
Parsley: High in Vitamin K, which is great for bone health and antibacterial properties that boost immunity, which is needed during hay fever season.
Avocado: Avocados are a source of vitamins C, E, K, and B6 and contain Omega 3 fatty acids which are beneficial for boosting collagen and skin glow. They also help you feel full for longer periods of time. 
Apple: Works as a good sweetener to make the green juice more palatable! Apples are also high in fibre and antioxidants to improve gut health.
Banana: High in dietary fibre and great for overall digestive health. Bananas also contain manganese, which boosts your metabolism, produces collagen and helps protect your skin from free radicals.
